Oz the Great and Powerful - Glinda Palette

I recently purchased Oz the Great and Powerful palette in "Glinda", by Urban Decay. I chose this out of the two limited edition palettes available to accompany the release of "Oz the Great and Powerful" film which will be released on 8th May 2013. I decided on the Glinda palette, over the Theodora, due to the shades being more colourful, and ones I don't already have in my eyeshadow collection.

The packaging of this palette is gorgeous, and very durable, as it is in a tin, but I wouldn't recommend throwing it around! However, it would be ideal for travel, especially as you can remove the separate eyeshadows and replace them with any other Urban Decay eyeshadows you have in pan form.

The colours in this palette all contain shimmer, and Oz has some chunky glitter in it. Using these eyeshadows, you tend to get a large amount of fall out below your eye, mostly of glitter.

(L-R) Tornado - Aura (duo) - Magic - Illusion - Oz (duo) - South

Illusion doesn't show up much on my skin tone (hence the awful swatch), however it would be great for a natural all over lid colour.

Tornado is a beautiful deep purple with shimmer, and would easily stand out by itself in a smoky eye look.

Magic is a medium pink, and despite the possibility of it making you look slightly ill, I am still excited to create a multitude of looks with this colour. It has golden undertones, and is one of the least shimmery in the palette.

Oz is a duo colour, with a gold on one side, silver on the other. Despite the fall out, these are fabulous light-reflecting colours. The golden side is very similar to half-baked, which is an eyeshadow in the Naked 1 and Naked 2 palettes.

South is by far my favourite, a silvery-taupe shade which would work in a variety of looks. It takes centre stage on the "get to look" card for Glinda, where it is used across the lid.

The duo in Aura is very iridescent; with one side a blue undertone, and the other with a rose

The super-saturated high-gloss lip colour in Glinda goes on smoothly, highly pigmented, and long-lasting for a gloss. The colour is a nude pink shade, a couple of shades darker than my natural pigmented lips.

The 24/7 liner in purple is quite tough to get on the water line, but around the eye area it works well and stays put.

I used the "get the look" card with this palette, but due to the photo used of Michelle Williams as Glinda, you can't see what eyeshadow she has on her upper lid. I had to use some matte eyeshadows (Smut and Charcoal Brown from MAC) in the crease, because the look lacked some depth without them. I also used a bit of Oz in the centre of the lid too.

I would recommend this palette too anyone who is lacking in colourful eyeshadow shades, and looking for a bargain, because this palette, including the lipgloss and eyeliner in only £35!
